We're back! Call it an upgrade to 50,000 watts of new online content centering on New England travel and vacation ideas.

So, what's been going on the the VisitingNewEngland.com newsroom? Well, we're currently featuring a photo essay of Cohasset, Mass., one of New England's most beautiful coastal towns. With a pleasing harbor and a quaint village setting, it's hard to believe that peaceful Cohasset is a suburb of Boston.

Due to popular demand, we also added a "Vacations Package" element to VisitingNewEngland.com. Here, the potential to save money is enormous by combining hotel, air and car rental bookings into one package. The Vacations Packages is powered by Orbitz, one of the true leaders in the travel industry.

For horse lovers, we think you'll enjoy our article on a Lakeville, Mass., farm that showcases several Clydesdale horses. The horses are stunning up close, surely different than what you see in those beer commercials!

On the restaurant side, we recently visited the Tock of the Town restaurant in Medfield, Mass. This relatively new breakfast and lunch place goes beyond your typical townie restaurant. Pride of ownership and a chef who knows what he's doing elevate this small restaurant
to another level.

We had fun putting together "Remembering Locally-Owned Boston Area Stores From Yesteryear," that includes mentions of Zayre department store, Grover Cronin's in Waltham, Mass., Eric Fuch's railroad store in Boston and Samtron Electronics in Somerville. We have begun to include articles that address social issues around New England, including a homeless shelter in Boston that helps families overcome the cycle of poverty.

Remembering the Smiling Blue Whale Neon Sign at Yoken's Restaurant

Not that Yoken's "Thar She Blows" restaurant in Danvers, MA, was bad, but if it were in business today, we'd regard it as a New England tourist trap with too much fried food and dining rooms that looked like any other restaurant dining room. It was basically Howard Johnson's with a sea captain's hat. Yoken's was hugely popular at its Danvers and Portsmouth, NH, locations for its affordable and decent seafood dishes, friendly service and family-friendly environment. Perhaps it was most popular, however, for its attention-getting smiling blue whale neon sign. Yokens' perfectly tapped into a pathetic, universally acknowledged human weakness: who doesn't love a smiling, blue whale? Perhaps Yoken's greatest appeal was its innocence. My Grandmother Had That...Antiques  in Wrentham, Mass., is one of those "hidden gem" antique stores that is jam-packed with antiques, collectibles and other items from the past. Located in a charming, two-story old red barn at 446 South St. (Route 1A), My Grandmother Had That...Antiques certainly lives up to its name. You'll find furniture, lamps, desks, chairs, plant holders, fine China sets and just about everything your grandma had, and also didn't have -- like a web address, Facebook fan page or any hint on the Internet that this place exists! Unless you're a Wrentham native, one familiar with the antiques industry, have driven by the red barn on South St., or somebody that just reads maps of Wrentham all day, My Grandmother Had That...Antiques is as hard to find as the rarest antique.
