Call it "Allium in the Family."

The 14th annual southern Vermont Garlic and Herb Festival will be "stinking up the joint" Sept. 5 (that's today!) and 6 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Camelot Village in Bennington, Vt., just 1.5 miles west of the four corners (junction VT Routes 7 & 9). The aromatic, traditional New England event will include the chance to sample and purchase from 50 different vendors including garlic ice cream, garlic jelly, pickled garlic, roasted garlic, garlic braids and, well, plain garlic bulbs of every variety -- as well as planting and braiding demonstrations and cooking demonstrations.

As if that wasn't enough, herbalists will take visitors on "weed walks" to learn about every day uses for weeds. Additionally, a Garlic Golf challenge, a hay maze, face painting, hair braiding, inflatable fun rides for kids, a beer and wine garden and live music will help add more flavor to the day.

Admission* for the day is just $5.00 per person, a 2 day pass for $8, and children 12 and under are $1.00. Unfortunately, dogs aren't allowed due to insurance concerns.

For additional information, contact The Bennington Area Chamber Of Commerce at (802) 447-3311.
