Sullivan's Castle Island Food Stand Seeks Second Location in Hingham

Photo credit: MassVacation.com The Boston Herald is reporting that the legendary Sullivan's food stand at Castle Island in South Boston, Mass., is looking to expand into Hingham, Mass. Sullivan's, which has been in business since 1951, is in talks with the Hingham Bathing Beach Trustees about possibly opening a second seasonal location at Hingham Bathing Beach that would offer "the same food and affordable prices as in Southie," according to the article. Brendan Sullivan hope that if all goes well, he'd like to open Sullivan's in Hingham by the end of next summer, although hinted that "might be pushing it." While the original Sullivan's is known for its rock bottom prices on tasty hot dogs and hamburgers, Sullivan's goes well beyond that dynamic duo with other good-value-for-the-money comfort foods including lobster roll, fried clam strips, clam chowder, fish sandwich, egg and cheese sandwich, fries and ...

Article and Photo by Eric H., at VisitingNewEngland.com Tex Barry's Coney Island Hot Dogs looks like a down-and-out place, located in a worn red building with a decrepit looking roof and big hot dog sign by a dirty river in not exactly the most pretty part of Attleboro, MA. The inside looks like a dive with worn floors, attitudinal signs posted on the walls, a long counter, and card table-like chairs to the side in an old narrow diner car that's as small as they come. As Foghorn Leghorn once said (not about Tex Barry's), "It's so small you have to go outside to change your mind." On the grill, there seemed to be an Army load of hot dogs, yet there were only a few people in the place. So, it seems, Tex Barry's make the hot dogs ahead of time, but that doesn't take away from its amazing signature dish. I had a phenomenal chili dog with relish, onions and mustard for under $3.00.
