A Hard-to-Find But Amazing Vermont Fudge

Article and Photo by Eric H.

Sometimes the greatest things are the hardest to find, as is the case of fudge made by Chester Sweets of Vermont.

We haven't been able to find this heavenly fudge through the Internet and many of our famous New England gift shops. Our great discovery came while visiting Pleasant View Farm (open April to December, Tel. 401-231-4620) on Pleasant View Ave. in Smithfield, RI. The ample amount of fudge for a low price of $5.99 looked too good to pass upon, so we bought and then ate and ate and ate.

The ingredients look like most other fudges sold: sugar, cream, butter, corn syrup and salt. The difference has to be in the quality of chocolate, which is so dense and moist that just a few bites won't suffice. Whatever the case, taste buds don't lie, so Chester Sweets Fudge clearly has found the exact combination to making an out-of-this-world fudge.

Other than Pleasant View Farms, we know that Russell Garden Centers on Route 20 in Wayland, MA (Tel. 508- 358-2283), sells this wonderful fudge. If you know of any other place that sell Chester Sweets fudge, please let us know through a post on The Weekly New England Travel and Vacation Gazette.
