Harvard Summer Pops Band at the Hatch Shell, Boston MA

It's amazing how 130 strangers recently came together together for the first time ever and six weeks later created musical magic with the Harvard Summer School's Harvard Summer Pops Band concerts. From high school students to senior citizens, these musicians started rehearsing in late June 2014 at the Sanders Theater at Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass., en route to playing fabulous late July 2014 concerts at Harvard Yard in Cambridge and the Hatch Shell in Boston, Mass. Mark Olson, interim director of bands at Harvard University, not only conducted with brilliance but made the process meaningful for all players by working them hard yet connecting in a pleasant, personable manner. In the video above, the Harvard Summer Pops Band performs Mozart's Rondo alla Turca from Sonata in A with an amazing tuba solo by world-renowned composer and performer, Kenneth Amis. Bravo! The Harvard Summer Pops Band is now in its 42nd year -- truly a grand tradition for brass, woo
